There are many of people think that SSM registration company documents is the permit for their businesses. In facts, SSM is just a company documents to show that you have given your company a identity in the industry. To let everyone know there is a newborn company. First, the standard size of signboard is 20′ (W) x 4′ (H). This size has been fix by all the town council in Malaysia. Normally we do advise our clients to apply both business and signboard license together as the town council will issue both into one single license after approved the application. But it still need to follow the town council your business located. Example, Majilis Perbandahan Subang Jaya (MPSJ) listed that all the businesses is compulsory to apply both business and signboard license at the same time. Unlike other town council which allow to apply business license only if you do not want to install signboard. Another situation is you have got the business and signboard license last time. And this time you are going to change something in the license such as change director’s name, company’s name, signboard visual, natural of business and others. Make sure you have renew your license then only able to proceed the step that you wish to change.
Table license (Permit Kaki Lima)
Table license is also one of the essential to register for a business. Especially for those open the restaurant. As long as putting something at the corridor of your shop. However, car parking permit has to be inspect by town council before they decided to rent the parking lot to the applicants. Some of the town council restrict applicants not to rent for own or their customers use. It is only let track to park it. And town council do also look at the natural of business that the applicant do. If they think that the natural of business does not necessary to get the parking lot. They might reject the application.
Event & Promotion license
Having promotion activity is effective tools to promote your company and your product or service. Most of the company will purpose some activities such as discount sales (Jualan Murah), Fairs, Performance, Launching and others type of events to attract their existing or new customers attention. Despite all this, many of company does not aware of this matter. They will begin will negotiate with the location management to bargain a effective cost. But they do not realise why they should apply a relate license to their event or activities that they are going to held.
For those company which plan to have run a activity in the Mall. When they request to rent a space for their event, mostly the Mall management will require the tenant to get event or promotion license before they start the activity. This is to avoid uncertainty situation occurs, to ensure the tenant able to run the activity smoothly. Event license in Bahasa Malaysia is known as Promosi Lessen Sementara. Event which like fairs, promotion kiosk, booth, discount sales and others are under Promosi Lesen Sementara. It is available in all Town Council. Moreover, the bigger event like contest, performance, outdoor road shows and others. All these are require to get permission from related council department such as Jabatan Pengangkutan, Hiburan, Music license and so forth.
On sales KPDNKK license is another license which is important when conduct an event activity. Especially the discount sale event, must require to apply Promosi Lesen Sementara and also On sales license. On sales license is allow company to sell the products at the discounted price. As long as put a sign “Discount %”. Then you must apply the On sales license. Otherwise the KPDNKK officer has the authorize to confiscate all the products has discounted price directly. Another side, the penalty fine will charge up to RM 50,000.00 if they found out you conduct an event without license permission. Besides, there are only 4 periods that opens to apply the on sales license. KPDNKK understand discount sales is a important part to gain more profit and sales for the company. Is because of this, they want to control the usage of having discount sales. Therefore they announce 4 period a year to apply On sales license.
A little tips here for everyone is must make sure that you got a business license and it has been renewed before plan to apply the event license. And do also get the contract or offer letter from the mall management to prove that you got the permission to conduct the activity on the stated date.
Banner & Bunting license
Once the company want to carry out an event or promotion activity. Mostly will think out of Banner or Bunting as a advertise tools to promote the up coming event held. Usually people will create the Banner or Bunting to hand at the road side especially in the Highway which easily noticeable for drivers. But do you know town council does not like people to hand Banner or Bunting in the Highway? They do not allow private sector to install Banner or Bunting is because Highway is authorize in charge by town council. You must have a strong Profile or excuses to convince the related Jabatan-jabatan. Or else they will not simply allow you to place the Banner & Bunting in the Highways.
If install Banner or Bunting at the road side. They will not going to hold back your act but you must have the license. Before proceed to apply license for Banner & Bunting license, you must select the road that you want to hand. If they found out the location you select has been taken by others earlier. Town council reject your application as they given to the party which has apply earlier. So what we suggest to you is try to find more location or roads so that you might not lose the entire place you may want to hand the Banner or Bunting.
Above is the outdoor Banner & Bunting, and here’s come the indoor Banner & Bunting. Indoor Banner or Bunting would be easier to apply compare to outdoor Banner and Bunting. As long as your banner or bunting does not occupy other places, then it is not difficult to get the license. Indoor Banner and Bunting would be normally places at in front of your store, in the Mall, at your event places and others. But make sure that the Banner or Bunting size does not exceed the size 2′ x 6′. If not town council reject the application. And the visual of Banner or Bunting cannot contains of sexual image, illegal info, and other which is bad to public society. Other than that, the wording used in the Banner or Bunting must included the Bahasa Malaysia translation. Cannot fully in English or Chinese.
Normally different town council has charge differently for Banner and Bunting license fees. They will base on the location install, the quantities of banner or bunting hands, the duration of install, and deposit charge. For the duration of hand Banner and Bunting, minimum period to place Banner or Bunting is 1 month. Maximum would be 3 months, you can have the decision to renew the banner or bunting before it close to the expire date. If you decided not to continue the license, you can request the refund of the deposit. But please note that town council will not return the deposit to you if you did not follow the rules when install the Banner or Bunting.
Trade Mark permit
One of the permit which people seldom to take notice on it. But people will want to apply when they aware of their company or brand logo being copy by other or similar to someone else. Trade mark permit is a authorize document to avoid the trademark logo from being copy by other corporate or individual. Although is able to protect your trademark logo for being duplicate, but the process of applying the trademark permit required a very long duration. Another words said it is a complicated procedure to apply a trademark permit.
The things you have to prepare before apply the trademark permit. Finalize the design of the trademark logo, if you keep hesitate on the design of trademark. Then you do not need to apply the trademark permit. Just slowly decide the color, patterns, front design, sizes and others. Note that trademark permit only can submit for one logo design. There is no second chance to revise or re-submit the new design.
